What is Aquaculture and Fish Farming?

Aquaculture is a sustainable fish farming and harvesting that helps to keep aquatic biodiversity and ecosystems. It also acquires an alternative to wild fish refuges all over the world. Besides supplying oxygen to the hatchery, the air supply also provides air circulation and mixes the water to ensure the sugpo larvae to stay suspended at a same distribution. Distribution lines are installed with PVC pipes.

The water has to be treated before sending to the fish. Water should also be disinfected to decrease microorganisms, it is important for eggs and small fry. Aeration is also necessary to raise the oxygen and to eliminate potential supersaturation of carbon dioxide and nitrogen. Aeration in water treatment for aquaculture and fish farms is provided by roots blowers.

Positive displacement lobe blowers are also employed for supplying air or oxygen in biofilm. In an up-flowing filter the water, it is essential to add air or oxygen with pressure for bacteria in order to get enough oxygen in biofilm.

Futhermore, rotary lobe type air pumps are utilized for feeding system. Feed particles are moved from hoppers to tanks or cages. The transportation of feed particles through pipes is made by air which is created by means of roots type blowers. The velocity in pipes should be appropriate to stay feed particles in suspension. A roots blower assures the necessary velocity inside the pipes. In sea cages, length of pipes may reach several hundred metres. This increases importance of roots type blowers once again.
