Sustainable development goals about environment lead researchers to find new methods and technologies for reducing environmental degradation. Increasing environmental sensitivity has been the most significant factor in production of biogas and biomethane.

Biogas is type of a gas that naturally occurs by decomposition of organic materials when these materials are at an oxygen-free environment. Biogas primarily consist of 60-70 % methane (CH4), 30-40% carbon dioxide (CO2) and some other gases such as ammonia, nitrogen, hydrogen, hydrogen sulphide and water vapour.

Biomethane is a derivative gas that is made of biogas. Biomethane is produced by reducing levels of gases that are inside biogas such as carbon dioxide, moisture, hydrogen sulphide and other gases. Biomethane –upgraded biogas- has advanced pure methane. Biomethane is also called Renewable Natural Gas (RNG). On the other hand, it is costly that the process of upgrading biogas to biomethane. Biomethane must meet some requirements such as pipeline for delivering it to possible consumers.

Fluctuations are commonly situations at biogas production. In order to dilute capacity of production, biogas is collected and temporarily stored. A flexible membrane is utilized for storing. The rotary lobe blowers are used as an air blower for double membranes stores.

The roots blowers are also employed at biofilter systems in biomethane plants. Roots blower pump is used to provide required oxygen to the biofilter for allowing the sulfide oxidizing reaction to occur.

Roots supercharger has utilized for landfilling compenents of waste management. Methane and CO2 are manufactured in landsfills. Perforated plastic pipes are installed in the landfill in order to avoid its releasing from the landfills. The entire piping system is under a partial vacuum that is produced by roots blower.
